Assam: AASU Leader Lurinjyoti Gogoi claims, BJP bringing Hindu foreigners in Assam to stay in power

Dhemaji: All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) General Secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi on Thursday alleged that the Assam BJP leadership is planning to bring in Hindu foreigners in order to stay in power, during an anti-CAA protest at Dhemaji.

As BJP Minister’s alleged AASU of spreading ‘misinformation’, Lurinjyoti Gogoi challenged the Assam administration to briefly explain in five points as to what the ‘misinformation’ is. Gogoi further started to pose allegation towards the Assam Government of planning to provide citizenship to Bangladeshis who came before 2014, in a desperate bid to latch onto power.

Gogoi also further alleged that the ‘peace’ rallies of the BJP cannot tame the burning flame of rebellion that the passage of the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act has aroused in the people.

He condemned Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s allegation of the AASU collecting funds to fill the pockets,

Gogoi stated, “Ask Himanta Biswa Sarma and Sarbananda Sonowal how student bodies are run. They have collected funds and entered the Guinness book of records, and now they talk about collecting funds.”

Gogoi also issued a warning to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Gogoi said that Sonowal, in the run-up to the last Assembly Elections in the State, did not inform that foreigners would be given citizenship. “You did not say in your manifesto that you would include Hindu foreigners; and now that you are ready to burden us with Hindu foreigners, is that not misinformation?”

Gogoi made these allegations at a massive gathering against the CAA, organized by the AASU under the moniker ‘Rana Singha’ (war bugle).

Across the state, people opposed to the CAA congregated at chosen localities to stage demonstrations beating traditional Assam instruments such as Bortaal, Taal, Khol, Bahi, Shankh, Horn, etc in this latest war cry against the ruling regime’s implementation of the contentious CAA.
