Tinsukia: The proposed Bihar Day celebrations in Assam’s Tinsukia district have been cancelled following strong opposition from the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU). The student body warned of serious consequences if the event took place, stating that “only Assam Day will be celebrated here.”
AASU leaders argued that celebrating Bihar Day in Assam undermines the state’s identity and culture. They urged organizers to cancel the event to maintain harmony, emphasizing their commitment to safeguarding Assam’s cultural and political interests.
After facing intense resistance from AASU and other pressure groups, the organizers ultimately called off the Bihar Day event, which was scheduled for March 22 in Tinsukia.
Margherita Revenue Circle Marks 44th Foundation Day
Meanwhile, the Margherita Revenue Circle celebrated its 44th Foundation Day on Monday, March 17. The event marked over four decades of dedicated service to the community.
Established on March 17, 1981, after being separated from the Tinsukia Revenue Circle, the Margherita Revenue Circle has played a crucial role in bringing administrative services closer to the people for the past 44 years.
