Assam as of now has a total of five positive cases of coronavirus. But the numbers are expected to go up with more positive cases that can be expected from Dibrugarh & Jorhat, said state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The numbers can also touch double-digit, he informed in his press briefing.
So far the people who have tested positive of COVID-19 have all come back to the state after attending the religious gathering at Nizammudin in Delhi.
Sarma mentions a total of 547 people attended the function in Delhi belonging from Assam.
Out of the total number, 68 people have not returned to the state. 134 have not been suspected prima facie.
The remaining number stands at 347 out of which 230 people have been recognized so far. As of now, 196 people’s sample has been collected so far. He also informed that more than Rs 8 crores has been collected through relief efforts set up for COVID-19 pandemic.
