In an unfortunate incident, a helicopter carrying pilgrims crashed soon after take-off from the Himalayan shrine of Badrinath in Uttarakhand on Saturday. The incident killed a crew member along with injuring two pilots. However, all the five passengers were said to be safe.
An engineer, who was part of the crew, died in the accident while two pilots suffered injuries, said an official at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in Delhi, reported HT.
Reportedly, the engineer was hit by rotor blades.
The Agusta 119 helicopter that met with an accident was of Mumbai-based private operator Krestal Aviation. The mishap happened just after take-off around 7: 45 pm, the DGCA official said.
The helicopter was traveling from Badrinath to Haridwar.
