Bali earthquake: Man continues to pray while building kept shaking

A powerful earthquake with 5.2 magnitude hit Indonesian island, Lombok at around 3 pm on Tuesday claiming at least 142 lives. People ran screaming for their lives as the strong thrust destroyed hundreds of homes, making thousands homeless. Around 1,000 tourists have been removed from the Gili islands and arrangements are being made to get them home safely as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, a video of an Imam (leader of prayers in Mosque) offering Namaz has floated on social media. In the video, people are offering Namaz behind the Imam when the tremor hits. The building starts shaking, mild in the beginning and then severely. When people find it difficult to balance themselves, few of them started to run away to save their lives.

In the video, Imam did not move at all and continued to pray. To balance himself he held the wall. Seeing him, few among those who had left the prayer, came back to join him. This video of BBC is going viral, as all of them remained safe.

The tremor comes just a week after another earthquake that hit Lombok taking at least 16 lives. There have been more than 130 aftershocks since Sunday. A warning of a tsunami was also issued which was later taken back.
