Bareilly Lok Sabha Constituency, Uttar Pradesh: Current MP, Candidates, Polling Date and Election Results

Bareilly is one of the ten constituencies in Uttar Pradesh to go on polls in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2019 on Tuesday, April 23. A three-way contest is underway in this UP constituency. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has entrusted incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Santosh Kumar Gangwar, the Congress has gone with Anmol Pathak and Samajwadi Party leader Bhagwat Saran Gangwar is Mahagathbandhan candidate.

In 2014 elections BJP’ Santosh Kumar had defeated Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Ayesha Islam with over 2 lakh votes.

The voting for Uttar Pradesh’s 80 parliamentary seats will take place across the seven phases of the 2019 General elections beginning April 11. The last phase will be held on May 19.

Bareilly Lok Sabha Constituency consists of 1,401,423 number of electorates in totality, of these 762,856 are males and 638,567 are females as the Election commission of India 2009 data suggests. The constituency comprises five Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly) segments. These are: Bareilly, Bareilly Cantt, Bhojipura, Meerganj, Nawabganj

In Phase III of the voting for the 17th Lok Sabha, elections will take place in 115 Lok Sabha constituencies across 14 states. Voting for this phase will take place on April 23. While, like all the other phases, counting will take place in May 23.

Along with Lok Sabha Elections, voting will also take place for the third phase of Odisha Assembly Elections 2019. The turnout in the last general election in 2014 was more than 66%, up from 45% in 1951 when the first election was held.
