Bihar Election 2020 LIVE updates: Bihar assembly elections are round the corner and politicians are busy campaigning. According to the Election commission of India, the Bihar elections 2020 will be held in three different phases in October and November. The voting for 243 assembly seats will take place on October 28, November 3 and November 7.

The elections are taking place amid pandemic, however, it will be mandatory for all the citizens to follow social distancing norms and other regulations. It should be noted that till now a total of 70 candidates have filed their nomination papers for 94 assembly constituencies that will see voting in the second phase on November 3. The filing of nominations for the third phase of polling on 78 seats began on October 13 and the papers can be submitted till October 20.

Ahead of elections, the central government has allowed political gatherings but with maximum of 200 people in an open space, it will also depend on the area. Read on for all the latest updates:

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was accompanied by elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav today at Hajipur Collectorate to file nomination from Raghopur assembly constituency. Tejashwi took blessings from his mother Rabri Devi before filing the nomination for the upcoming elections. Tejashwi claimed that Grand Alliance will win the elections and come to power. The RJD-helmed Mahagathbandhan has Congress and the Left parties as its members.

Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) chief Sharad Yadav’s daughter Subhashini Raj Rao will join Congress today in Delhi. She will also contest the upcoming elections.

Ahead of elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will address four poll rallies in Bihar today. The rallies will take place in Banka, Bhagalpur, Munger, and Patna. So far, Nitish has participated in virtual rallies only. It is also expected that Nitish will address rallies in Jamui, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura and Patna on Thursday.

According to senior party leader Praful Patel, the NCP will contest the Bihar Assembly polls independently after it was not allotted any seat by the RJD-Congress alliance with which it wanted to tie-up in the state.

RJD president Lalu Prasad’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav on Tuesday filed nomination from Hasanpur assembly constituency in the Samastipur district. He was accompanied by his younger brother and Grand Alliance chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav.

Tej Pratap won the last assembly elections in 2015 from Mahua seat in the Vaishali district, has shifted to Hasanpur this time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address at least nine physical rallies for the Bihar polls. The PM, sources said, will address three rallies each of the three phases. BJP, they said, will deploy over 10,000 “social media commandos” at booth level to enable people in far flung areas to listen to the PM live amid COVID-19 restrictions.
