BJP workers, supporters want Giriraj Singh as next Bihar CM

A Muzaffarpur-based social activist, Tamanna Hashmi accused the Union Minister Giriraj Singh of hurting religious sentiments. Social worker Tamanna Hashmi has filed a lawsuit against Giriraj Singh for proposing to change the name of Bakhtiyarpur city.

Bakhtiyarpur is named after Bakhtiyar Khilji – the military general of Qutb-ud-Aibak – who destroyed the famed Nalanda University in late 12 century.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh demanded that Bakhtiyarpur and other towns and cities in Bihar named after Muslim invaders be rechristened, as is being done in the neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.

The case has been filed in the court of Muzaffarpur SDGM Sabah Alam. Hearing in the matter will be proceeded on November 3.
