Bihar Board makes 75% attendance must for classes 9 to 12: The Bihar School Examination Board, Patna has mandated that students in Grades 9 through 12 must have a minimum of 75% attendance in order to appear for exams. The announcement comes days after Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar ordered all state universities to prohibit students with less than 75% attendance from taking exams.

In this regard, the Bihar board has issued an order to all secondary and higher secondary school principals, instructors, students, and parents.

“It is hereby notified that pupils enrolled in classes ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth in recognised secondary and higher secondary educational institutions of the state must maintain a minimum attendance rate of seventy-five percent. “Only those students will be permitted to participate in the secondary/intermediate board examinations conducted by the committee, as well as the 9th and 11th grade annual examinations,” the order stated. In a previous order, the board permitted up to a 60% relaxation of criteria.

Nevertheless, it has been discontinued. Students who do not meet the minimum attendance requirement will not be permitted to take the annual exam under any circumstances. Robert L. Chongthu, principal secretary, stated, “It has come to our attention that institutions permit students with attendance rates below 75% to take university exams.

The chancellor disapproves of this practise and has directed that an order be issued to ensure that 75 percent mandatory attendance is rigorously adhered to before students are permitted to take university examinations.” This directive from the Raj Bhavan came hours after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met with the Governor on Wednesday amid a dispute between the state education department and the chancellor’s office over the appointment of vice chancellors in various universities, according to the PTI.
