Bihar: Child Caught Between Bridge Pillars Over the Son River in Rohtas; Rescue Efforts Since 22 Hours

Bihar’s Rohtas district’s Atimi village’s bridge over the Son River connecting Nasriganj to Daudnagar contained a 12-year-old boy who became wedged between two pillars. The boy has been the subject of rescue efforts since Wednesday afternoon.

The child has been identified as Ranjan Kumar, the son of Khiriaon village resident Shatrughan Prasad. His father believes that Ranjan is mentally ill. The NDRF and SDRF teams are currently drilling a hole in the bridge’s pillars to extract the boy.

During the rescue operations, Ranjan is still fully conscious and is receiving adequate Oxygen through a pipe. Locals have gathered at the scene and are praying for the child’s safety.

Mohammad Zafar Imam, officer of the Nasriganj Block Division, reported that the administration is making every effort to rescue the boy. A team from the NDRF has been evacuating the child since late last night. So far, 35 oxygen cylinders have been administered to the child.

According to a report by Dainik Jagran, the boy became trapped between the pillars while attempting to climb the bridge from the ground up. Nonetheless, he fell and became wedged between the two pillars.

Upendra Kushwaha, the leader of the Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal and a former Union minister, arrived on the scene and inquired about the rescue efforts for the child.

According to Ranjan’s father, he has been missing from the house for two days. On Wednesday afternoon, a woman passing by the bridge witnessed the crying boy trapped in the pillar. The boy’s family was promptly notified, and subsequent measures were taken to rescue him.
