Coronavirus in Bihar: With 704 new coronavirus cases on Friday, Bihar’s total tally of the infection reached 13,978. Till now, 2,75,554 samples have been tested in the state. The number of recovered patients is 9,541 and the active cases are 3,632. The recovery rate of Bihar reached to 71.88%. The death toll stands at 109.

To restrain the spread of the deadly COVID-19 in the state, 11 districts have been put under strict lockdown from Friday.

These districts are Patna, Kaimur, Buxar, Nawada, Supaul, Madhepura, Khagaria, Munger, Kishanganj, Muzaffarpur, and Motihari. During the shutdown period, the government and private offices, except those involved in essential services like electricity, water, sanitation, banks, ATMs, telecommunications, and petrol pumps shall remain closed for seven days.

Shops to open in two shifts

The administration has directed to open shops for essentials including meat and dairy shops in two shifts. The shops will remain open from 6 AM to 10 AM and 4 PM to 7 PM. Shops will not open after the stipulated time. Parks and zoos will remain open for the stipulated period.

Complete lockdown in Bhagalpur

The Bhagalpur district will be under complete lockdown till 6 AM of July 16. District Magistrate Pranav Kumar issued a letter on Thursday. The Commissioner of Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation directed the executive officer of Sultanganj Nagar Parishad, Kahalgaon, and Navagachya Nagar Panchayat to ensure that the drop gates are put on the borders of their area. As per the Additional collector Rajesh Jha Raja said there will be a lockdown in rural areas as well.

364 ventilators provided to Bihar

According to Ashwani Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, the health ministry has provided 364 ventilators to the Government of Bihar that has been dispatched and will be supplied as soon as possible. So far, 6.77 lakh N95 masks, 4.70 lakh PPE kits, 29 lakh hydroxychloroquine tablets have been provided to Bihar. Besides, 30 ventilators have been provided to Patna AIIMS.

Meanwhile, the coronavirus cases in India, on Friday, crossed 7.90 Lakh with a record single-day jump of 26,506 new patients testing positive, as per the data by the Union Health Ministry. Over 4.95 lakh patients have been recovered to date. According to the official figures, there have been 21,604 deaths due to the infection. In the last 24 hours, 475 COVID-19 patients died.
