In an incident of police brutality, the Bihpur police of Bihar’s Bhagalpur allegedly thrashed and killed an engineer who had come to his village to spend his holidays.
According to several media reports, the deceased, Ashutosh Kumar fell into an argument with the Bihpur police over a small matter. Suraj Pathak, brother of Ashutosh told that Kumar was a software engineer. He came to his village to spend his Navratri holidays with his wife and child.
In this episode, Ashutosh got into an argument with a local youth over the removal of barriers. Given this, the police arrived. However, instead of convincing the two, the SHO and other policemen started thrashing Ashutosh which resulted in his death.
Ashutosh was then hospitalized in a critical condition. However, he breathed his last during the treatment. On the other hand, the families of the deceased and other locals started displaying the bodies on the main road demanding stringent action against the accused SHO.
An investigation of the incident is underway.
