Bihar: YouTuber Manish Kashyap sharing fake videos of attacks on migrants in Tamil Nadu surrenders

Bihar YouTuber Manish Kashyap, who was arrested on March 18 for allegedly disseminating fake videos of “migrants being assaulted in Tamil Nadu,” was remanded to the custody of the police in the southern state until March 31 and will be brought before a Madurai court on that date.

Manish Kashyap, alias Tripurari Kumar Tiwari, was also sought by the Tamil Nadu Police, and a Madurai court had issued a warrant for his arrest.

Kashyap’s attorney, KK Prabhakar, stated that the court of additional chief judicial magistrate Adi Dev in Patna granted transit remand after a Tamil Nadu police officer submitted an affidavit stating that the accused would be brought before the court in Madurai under full security and protection, as per the report.

Monday marked the conclusion of Kashyap’s four-day EOU (Economic Offences Unit) detention in Bihar.

Kashyap, who operates a YouTube channel, surrendered at a Bettiah police station on March 18 after evading capture for several days after being charged in the case. A police team was in the process of seizing his residence in the same area.

Rakesh Ranjan Kumar, a native of the Gopalganj district, is accused of filming a fake video depicting “migrants being attacked in Tamil Nadu” in a Patna residence.

According to the police, Kashyap has been charged with ten crimes in Patna and Bettiah since 2019.

In this case, EOU had filed three cases against him and others.
