BJP blamed for axing of Agrawal community voters in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 4 (IANS) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday alleged that names of about four lakh voters, out of the total of eight lakh voters of the Agrawal community in Delhi, had been deleted on the direction of the BJP ahead of the 2019 polls.

AAP Rajya Sabha member Sushil Gupta made the allegation a day after the AAP’s east Delhi’s Lok Sabha in-charge Atishi claimed that names of about 30 lakh votes – particularly those of Baniya, Muslim and Purvanchali community – were axed on the direction of the BJP.

“We believe the BJP’s vote bank has shifted from the Baniya community in Delhi and may be that is why in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidhan Sabha election the BJP did not give us even a single ticket,” Gupta said.

“We are the second Muslim community as per the BJP,” Gupta added.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was trying to play safe because the Agrawal community had been upset with the party.

“In Delhi, Agrawal community has a total of 8 lakh votes, out of which 4 lakhs votes have been deleted? Which constitutes 50 per cent of the votes. Until today, this community has been a loyal voter of the BJP. This time they are upset with GST and demonetization, so BJP deleted them from the voters’ list? Extremely shameful,” Kejriwal tweeted.
