BJP MLA demands release of Alwar lynching accused

Rajasthan BJP MLA Gyan Dev Ahuja has demanded to release the three accused who were arrested in the suspicion of having involvement in lynching Rakbar Khan. The state Home Minister Gulabchand Kataria on Wednesday admitted that the 28-year-old victim died under police custody. Following this, Ahuja requested the Home Ministry to let out the three accused of mob lynching.

In a statement issued by Ahuja’s office, the MLA asks, “When the home minister has agreed to the fact that the victim died under police custody, why are innocents are being kept under police custody.

Rakbar Khan, a resident of Haryana was allegedly beaten to death by the mob in Ramgarh, Rajasthan, on suspicion of cow smuggling. According to reports, the man, accompanied by another man, was taking two cows to their village in Haryana through a forest area near Lalawandi in Alwar district on Friday night, when a group of people severely thrashed Khan.

The Rajasthan police was also being accused of delaying in taking the 28 years old Rakbar Khan to the hospital that was just six kilometres from the crime spot. According to Rahul Gandhi’s tweet, the police officials took a tea-break en route to the hospital. The mob suspected Khan to be smuggling cows, though the allegation is yet to be verified, said police officials.
