An incident related to poaching of a black deer has been reported in the Rohtas district of Bihar. According to reports, the incident took place in the Padariya-Rajpur area under Baghaila police station. Poachers had cut off horns of the deer and the body was found lying in a field.
According to eyewitnesses, some people shot the deer and left it to do die after cutting off horns. Some villagers claimed that the deer was shot dead by a police constable – a driver of patrolling jeep of Baghaila police station. The constable has been identified as Neeraj Dubey.
Villagers even released a video to substantiate their claim.
However, the state police has termed the villagers’ allegation as baseless. Villagers claimed that the administration is on its toe as they have shared the video of the incident on social media platforms.
Some of them claimed that there were two other persons with the constable, however, both of them flee before villagers gathered at the spot.
The constable was caught by villagers who beat him up before handing over to the police.
Villagers also said that they were reprimanded by the station head officer (SHO) of the police station when they tried to register a complaint about the incident.
Kanjan Kumar, SHO of Baghaila police station said that they were on patrol when the incident took place and no firing took place over there.
He said the constable heard dogs barking at some distance and out of curiosity went there only to find the dead deer. The cop said an investigation has been launched to find out who cut off the horns of the deer.
