One of the emerging directors of the Tamil film industry, Pa. Ranjith is all set to make his Bollywood debut and its no small project.
On Tuesday, Ranjith officially announced his intention of making a film on the Jharkhand tribal hero, Birsa Munda. The film-maker has kicked off with the preproduction routine, talking to the tribals and understanding the impact Birsa have had over the lives of the people there.
The star cast is yet to be announced, though the Kaala and Kabali fame has said that he is in talks with an actor for the lead role of Birsa. The movie will primarily be filmed in Hindi under the banner of Namah Pictures, which shot to fame after producing Beyond The Clouds.
In a conversation with Deccan Chronicle, Gopi Nainar said, “It is a democratic country and everyone has his/her own creative freedom. Anyone can make a biopic of famous personalities. And it is the vision of the creator and how he narrates that really matters. I have done my research on the subject and had my complete bound script long back.”
Apparently, the announcement comes a day earlier to the 143rd birth anniversary of Birsa Munda. It is yet to be seen out of the two movies, which one attracts more viewers, both of them are slated to be released in 2019.
