2019 has already begun and the Bollywood movies calendar is what we look forward to every year. As always, some movies which were already announced in 2018 are the most anticipated ones to look forward to this year.

From romantic movies like the student of the year 2 to action pack movies like ‘Brahmastra To biopics like the accidental Prime Minister, Bollywood surely has a lot store in us for the audience this year.

Here is the list of some upcoming movies

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi

Kangana Ranaut starrer film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is in talks before its release for all the wrong reasons. The film has seen backing of co-director and actor due to clash issues and also the film is reportedly facing communities issues but be it for all the wrong reasons, at least people are talking about the film.

The epic saga is based on the life of the historic Queen who fought against the British to save her kingdom. The film stars Kangana Ranaut in lead role as the Queen. She has acted and co-directed the film.

The film is all set to release on 25th January 2018.

Thackeray

One of the most-anticipated films of this year is Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer “Thackeray” which is based on Shiv Sena leader Balasaheb Thackeray’s. Nawaz stars in the film as the Maratha champion as the story shows the rise of Shiv Sena party, how it was formed and the power that Bal Thackeray exercised in the state when he was alive.

Directed by Abhijeet Panse, it is written by Rajya Sabha MP & Shiv Sena’s spokesperson Sanjay Raut.

The film also has actress Amrita Rao playing the role of Bal Thackeray’s wife, Meena Tai Thackeray. It is all set to release on January 25.

Mental hai kya

Directed by National award-winning Telugu filmmaker, Prakash Kovelamudi, who is making his Bollywood debut with ‘Mental Hai Kya’ features Rajkummar Rao and Kangana Ranaut in a unique avatar. They both were earlier seen together in 2014 hit film ‘Queen’.

The adult black comedy crime thriller is written by Kanika Dhillon and is produced under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures.

The film is expected to release on March 29.

Kalank

Karan Johar revealed the star cast of the Abhishek Varman’s directorial titled “ Kalank” which happens to be Karan johar’s late father Yash Johar’s dream project of the 1940s.

The Multi starrer will star  Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur.

The film will release on April 19.

The film is expected to release on March 29.

 

Bharat

The Salman Khan starrer film is the most awaited movie in itself. The movie is all set to release on the special occasion of Eid this year. Bharat is a remake of South Korean movie “ode to my father”. The actor will be seen romancing Katrina Kaif in his wife role. The movie will also star Tabu, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, Nora Fatehi in a special role.

Ali Abbas Zafar directorial is expected to release in June this year.

Sahoo

Directed by Sujeeth, Sahoo will be Bahubali fame actor Prabhas debut film in the Hindi film industry. The romantic film also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Jackie Shroff and Chunkey Pandey.

Sahoo is expected to release on August 15.

Mission Mangal

‘Mission Mangal’ will be directed by Jagan Shakti in collaboration with R Balki. Based on the story of India’s Mars mission, it stars a unique cast including Akshay Kumar in the lead with five actresses — Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari and Malayalam actress Nithya Menen who makes her Bollywood debut with this. The film also stars 3-idiot actor Sharman Joshi.

The film is slated to release on August 15.

83’

The film titled 83’ is a biopic film based on the former cricketer Kapil Dev, The film will feature the life journey of the cricketer and the Indian team to the time when they won world cup 1983.

The Kabir Khan directorial is set to release on August 30.

Brahmastra

The film that will see rumoured couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt together happens to release this year.

Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, ‘Brahmastra’ has Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and South Indian star Nagarjuna in important roles. It will be a three-part film.

The film is expected to release on Christmas this year.

Student of the year 2

After the success of Student of the year, Tiger Shroff is the new lead who will romance two newcomers; Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday in the franchise’s second film ‘Student of The Year 2. The romantic comedy dance drama will be directed by Punit Malhotra under the banner of Dharma Productions.

The release date of the movie has not yet revealed.
