While there is so much infiltrating our everyday lives, little humane gestures restores our faith in mankind. In one such instance, Congress legislator Roji M John visited a hearing and speech- impaired man who was trolled as the “first drunkard on Kochi Metro” by people on social media, reported Hindustan Times.
Eldo, whose photo took rounds on social media had been a victim of a cruel joke. When Eldo along with his wife and children, had visited his brother who is hospitalised in a critical condition; on their way back home, Eldo’s son asked if they could travel on the newly-opened metro. While they were travelling in the metro, Eldo, who was deeply upset and sad about his brother’s condition and tired too, just lay down on a seat when someone took a photo of him and shared it on social media.

Eldo works with a state government organisation and his colleagues believe he is an extremely nice man.
“This should not have happened as neither he nor his wife can express their feelings and emotions like the rest of us as they are hearing and speech impaired,” said the first-time legislator from Angamaly, whose constituent Eldo is.
Eldo’s son said: “It was I who had requested my parents to take the metro as it had just opened. My father was sad and also tired so he decided to lie down.”
While Eldo comes from an ordinary background, they have no clue about taking legal action against the culprits, said some relatives.
“Eldo is very sad. We have received many calls since the picture came out. It was most unfortunate that he became a victim,” said the relative.
It was extremely gracious of John to go to the house of the man and apologize to him on behalf of all those who mocked Eldo on social media.
