Breaking News LIVE, December 28: Several resident doctors across the country continue their protest against the delay in NEET-PG counselling and warned to withdraw “all healthcare services” from Wednesday.

Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) calls for complete withdrawal from all healthcare services across the country from 8 am on December 29 “in protest against brute force by Delhi Police against doctors.”

Delhi government schools will remain closed from January 1 to 15, 2022 for students up to Class 5 as the winter break has been announced. Going by the directions of the directorate of education (DoE), no online or offline teaching-learning activity can be conducted during this period.

India has reported 6,358 new cases and 6,450 recoveries over the last 24 hours. The Omicron case tally was recorded at 653 cases. The active caseload currently stands at 75,456. The recovery rate is currently at 98.40%.

Former India cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has tested positive for Covid. The reports came in last night. He is now in isolation.

The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has recommended the approval for emergency use of vaccine candidates Covovax by SII and Corbevax by Biological E. Anti-viral Covid pill Molnupiravir has also been recommended for approval in India by SEC. The recommendations have been sent to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI).

Start making flex-fuel vehicles in six months, Gadkari advises manufacturers

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has said that to substitute import of petroleum as fuel and provide direct benefits to farmers, the automobile manufacturers in India have now been advised to start manufacturing Flex-Fuel Vehicles (FFV) and Flex-Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles (FFV-SHEV) complying with BS-6 norms in a time-bound manner within a period of six months.

In a series of tweets, he said that in line with Prime Minister's vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the government's policy on promoting ethanol as a transport fuel, Flex Fuel Vehicles are capable on running on a combination of 100 per cent petrol or 100 per cent bio-ethanol and their blends, along with strong Hybrid Electric technology in case of FFV-SHEVs.

The minister said this move will drastically reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions from vehicles on a well-to-wheel basis, helping India to comply with its commitment made at COP26 to reduce the total projected carbon emissions by One Billion Tonnes by 2030.
