Brian Cohee’s New True Crime Documentary Explores the Story of a Murderer: A recent true crime film examines the horrific murder of homeless man Warren Barnes in Grand Junction, Colorado, by Brian Cohee, who was just a teenager at the time.
The jury found Cohee guilty the previous year for murdering and dismembering Barnes in early 2021. Cohee was 19 years old at the time of the homicide.
The mother discovered the skull of the victim in Cohee’s closet.
After finding Barnes’ decapitated skull in her son’s closet, Terri called 911 to report the crime.
“[Brian] has always had a bit of a fascination with the macabre,” Terri told the operator about her sad discovery. “I thought he was investigating crime scenes,” but no.”

Cohee entered a not-guilty plea on the grounds of transient insanity throughout his trial. Despite this, he was unable to persuade the jury.
He was convicted of all four charges brought against him in February 2023. According to KJCT8, a local ABC affiliate in Colorado, they were first-degree murder, two counts of tampering with a deceased corpse, and evidence tampering.
They gave Cohee an indefinite life sentence with no chance of parole.
KJCT8 reported that Grand Junction courtroom observers observed Cohee “smiling and relaxed” before the delivery of his guilty verdict.
