Captain Marvel box office collection day 1: Brie Larson’s film becomes second biggest Hollywood opener in India

Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson is not yet another Marvel cinematic movie as it not gives the gist of the end in the very beginning like Avengers: Infinity War but although takes us to the era where all this began.  Brie Larson as Carol is the new hero who is in search of her origin and roots.

The process of finding one with the amazing soundtrack of the 90s in the background makes it more engaging to the audience.

The humorous punch line and a really cool cat makes us to the origin story of Carol in the easiest way and no doubt it is the easiest marvel film till date as it doesn’t make you feel the need of knowing the back story an works well as a standalone film.

The film begins with Vers (Brie Larson), an elite member of the Kree Starforce who gets flashes about an unknown past. She is learning to deal with her troubles under Yon-Rogg’s (Jude Law) guidance on planet Kree. However, she is far from winning the battle.

After a space mission against the ‘bad guys’ Skrulls goes wrong, Carol lands on planet C-53 (Earth) in 1995. Here, she meets Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and the two immediately hit it off. The bonding between Carol and Nick has a calming effect. While Jackson is an absolute delight as Nick Fury, Larson seems apprehensive about jumping wholeheartedly into it. You miss the badass superhero you wanted as the lead of Marvel’s first woman superhero film.

Although the formation of the film follows the same like that of Captain America, Iron Man and Hulk but yet it offers something new to the audience, courtesy the effort of director duo Anna Boden-Ryan Fleck.

Another interesting thing about Captain Marvel is that most of the original films are based on the theme superhero losing powers but this flick is reverse and in this, the female superhero loses everything when she gains her powers.

Another thing that makes it watchable is that film delves into the portrayal of women as the weaker gender and her struggles against the social norms. Her strong comeback as the stronger woman gives the best treat on the International Women’s Day and gives yet another reason to celebrate.

The real star of Captain Marvel is no doubt, Reggie, the cat. The unapologetic stance deserves a spin-off. On the technical aspect, the stunt choreography is remarkable, it shows how Carol doesn’t need armours and is comfortable with fistfights.

The film gives a reference to the 90s, courtesy the telephone booths, fashion sense, bikes and what not constantly showing up in the movie. Also, the 90s inspired soundtrack in the background surely makes your feet tapping.

The film makes Carol the main centre of attraction of the film and the secondary characters don’t get that desired because maybe the makers wanted to introduce Captain Marvel before Avengers Endgame.

Overall, the movie is enjoyable and also a must watch especially for the Marvel fans. But surely, Captain Danvers has a long way to go to prove herself the strongest superhero but still, she has taken the first step into the right direction.
