A thief was recorded on camera offering prayers to a deity, seconds before stealing the idol’s crown on Wednesday, November 20.
The footage of the incident which appeared on social media, shows the thief entering the Durga temple situated in the city’s Gunfoundry area at around 6.20 pm.
In the video, the thief can be seen praying to the diety for, he later folds his hands, holds his ears and bows to the idol. Following this, he pulls the crown off the idol.
A case has been registered under Section 380 of the IPC in this regard.

“The custodians of the temple approached us last night and filed a complaint and we have registered a case. Further investigation is underway,” SHO Kandula Ravi Kumar from the Abids police station was quoted as saying in The News Minute report.
