Chaitra Navratri 2024: In 2024, the nine-day Hindu festival Chaitra Navratri will commence on the initial day of the Hindu Luni-Solar calendar. The festival, also referred to as Vasanta Navratri, will commence on April 9 and conclude on April 17. The nine days of Navratri are dedicated to paying homage to the deity Shakti in all her nine incarnations.

Schedule for Chaitra Navratri 2024: nine days

  • (Tuesday, April 9) Ghatasthapana and Shailputri Puja
  • Wednesday, April 10: Brahmacharini Puja
  • Thursday, April 11th: Chandraghanta Puja
  • Friday, April 12: Kushmanda Puja
  • Saturday, April 13: Skanda Mata Puja and Naag Puja
  • Sunday, April 14: Katyayani Puja
  • Kaalratri Puja and Maha Saptami occur on April 15 (Monday).
  • “During the Maa Mahagauri Puja on April 16 (Tuesday)”
  • Wednesday, April 17 is Ram Navami.

Principal Chaitra Navratri ceremonies in 2024

1) Ghatasthapana: Commencing the nine-day festival, Ghatasthapana is one of the principal ceremonies of Navratri. As per Hindu scriptures, performing Ghatasthapana—an invocation of Goddess Shakti—at an opportune moment could result in detrimental consequences. Prohibit Ghatasthapana at night or during Amavasya. You should perform Ghatasthapana during the first-third of the day, when Pratipada Tithi is at its highest point in the sky.

  • The time during Ghatasthapana Muhurat is from 6:02 am to 10:16 am.
  • From 11:57 am to 12:48 pm, Ghatasthapana Abhijit Muhurat is in session.

2) Durga Ashtami: April 16, 2000, Durga Ashtami. On Durga Ashtami, they place nine tiny pots there and invoke nine Durga Shaktis. People worship all nine Durga incarnations during Ashtami Puja.

  • Ashtami Tithi begins April 15 at 12:11 pm.
  • Ashtami Tithi ends April 16 at 1.23 pm.

3) Ram Navami: The Buddha’s birth is commemorated on Ram Navami Tithi in the Shukla Paksha of Chaitra. Numerous temples commemorate the birthplace of Lord Rama, which is represented by the midpoint of Madhyahan.

  • On April 16, Ram Navami will commence at 1.23 pm.
  • On April 17, Ram Navami will conclude at 3:14 pm.
