Chhattisgarh Polls: Notification for first phase issued, Chief Minister Raman Singh expected from Rajnandgaon

Election commission on Tuesday issued a notification for the first phase of voting to be held on 12th November for 18 assembly seats including Bastar, Bijapur, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Kanker, Narayanpur and Rajnandgaon districts. The assembly elections will take place in two phases in Chhattisgarh on November 12 and 20. Of the 18 seats of the first phase, 12 are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) and one for Scheduled Caste (SC) categories respectively.

With the issue of notification for the first phase of elections, the process of filing nomination papers initiated in 18 assembly constituencies and the last date for nominations would be October 23.

The scrutiny of the nomination papers would take place on October 24 and the last date for the withdrawal of the nominations is October 26.

Eminent candidates expected to fight elections in the first phase include Chief Minister Raman Singh, MLA from Rajnandgaon, and Ministers Kedar Kashyap and Mahesh Gagda, MLAs from Narayanpur and Bijapur respectively.
