October is the month of festivities and celebrations in India. Bhai Dooj is celebrated on the third day of the Diwali celebration, in most parts of northern India but in the Kayastha community, a special worship ceremony is organized to commemorate the Lord Chitragupta. 

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Chitragupta is the accountant of Yama who maintains all the records of a human being’s doing on the earth and he is considered to be the God of justice.

Chitragupta Puja is celebrated by Hindus with utmost devotion and belief in Lord Chitragupta. 

On this puja, traders offer their prayer to Lord Chitragupta for their income and expenditure therefore, write this on a piece of paper and present it before god. So if you want to celebrate Chitragupta Puja this year, this is all the information you need to know.

Chitragupta Puja Muhurat:

October 29, 2019, marks the celebration of Chitragupta Puja. The auspicious time for this is:

Morning 03: 50 (29 October) to Morning 03:50 (30 October)

Afternoon 01:10 to 03:26  

Chitragupta Puja Vidhi:

On the day of the celebration, you must take a shower and put on clean clothes. Thereafter,  chok or traditional rangoli must be made in the East direction of the idol of Lord Chitragupta. Then put a roli tikka and adorn it with rice. Then light Diya, offer flowers, and sweets to Lord. It is important to keep a pen and diary during the Puja.

Write ‘Shree Ganeshay Namah’ 11 times and then, write ‘Om Chitraguptahay Namah’ 11 times on a piece of blank paper to complete puja ceremoniously.
