BACKGROUND

Christopher Michael Pratt was born on June 21, 1979, in Virginia, Minnesota. He is the youngest child of Kathleen and Daniel Pratt. He attended local school in Lake Stevens, Washington, where he was reared. His mother worked at a Safeway supermarket, while his father mined and subsequently remodelled homes.

After one semester, Pratt pulled out of community college and moved to Maui, Hawaii, where he worked as a discount ticket salesman and a waiter. He was homeless at one point and slept in a van and a tent on the seashore. Rae Dawn Chong was the one who ‘discovered’ him. She cast him in the 2000 short film “Cursed, Part 3” due to his attractiveness and enthusiasm. This opened the door for Pratt to pursue more acting work, and in 2002 he secured a role as the athlete Bright Abbott on the television series “Everwood,” where he remained until the show’s cancellation in 2006.

Then, from 2009 to 2015, he portrayed the hapless and frequently naive Andy Dwyer on the workplace comedy series “Parks and Recreation.” The show was a breakthrough for Pratt, who subsequently secured additional film roles. He portrayed Scott Hatteberg in “Moneyball,” a Navy SEAL in Kathryn Bigelow’s “Zero Dark Thirty,” and Joaquin Phoenix’s colleague in Spike Jonze’s “Her” (2013).

After meeting on the set of “Take Me Home Tonight” in 2009, Pratt married Anna Faris, a fellow actor and the mother of his son Jack, in 2009. On August 6, 2017, Pratt and Faris announced their separation after eight years of marriage. In June of 2019 he wed Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt, and they have two daughters.
