A textile businessman M Ravikumar from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu won hearts and blessings of many as he gifted air travel to 120 elderly people in his village who had never experienced bird view of the earth from an altitude of 35,000 feet.

44-year-old Ravikumar, who hails from a small village near Avinashi made sure that his family members get the spectacular flight experience at least once in lifetime.

According to a report from national daily, the group which included six generations of the businessman’s family, boarded the flight from Devarayampalauam at around 3 PM for Chennai. The group had people between the age of 50 and 101 years.

The airport wore a festive look when the group got down from two buses and stood in a queue for security clearance,” national daily quoted the beaming businessmen, who could not stop smiling as he helped a 101-year-old grandmother walk into the airport.

It is not only Ravikumar’s blood relatives who got a chance to fly amid clouds but a family friend also. 50-year-old Jamila said that she didn’t have any husband or children who could give her an airport experience.

The trip included a visit to Kanchipuram, Vellore and Thiruvannamalai through Saturday evening and Sunday. The passengers returned to the village by bus from Thiruvannamalai on Sunday night.

It wasn’t easy though for the 44-year-old to take such a large group for sightseeing. It too him five years of planning and money saving. Ravikumar also took help from one of his uncles, working at the airport, to apply for senior citizen concession for at least for 20 people.

The entire trip cost him Rs four lakh but every penny of it was worth it.
