Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi will begin his three-day visit to his constituency Amethi on Wednesday. He will also visit Congress president and his mother, Sonia Gandhi’s constituency Rae Bareli. After landing in Lucknow, Rahul will leave for Amethi by road and during his road journey; he will meet people before staying the night at the Munshiganj guest house.
On Thursday, he is scheduled to hold a ‘janta darshan’ at the guest house. He will also meet party workers in Tiloi, Salon and Rae Bareli. On the last day of his visit, he will again hold a ‘janta darshan’ in his mother’s constituency, Rae Bareli.
Rahul’s Amethi trip is in headlines district authorities has suggested a postponement citing security concerns. Amethi district magistrate, Yogesh Kumar said the authorities “never said no” to Rahul’s visit but recommended a rescheduling considering his security concerns.
“Rahul had proposed to visit Amethi from October 4-6. We never said no (to his visit),” the district magistrate said. But, the request was made following Muharram and Dussehra celebrations. He was, however, given a go-ahead for the visit on Monday.
