Bhopal: Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) has issued a bailable warrant against Bhartiya Janata Party leader and National Spokesperson Sambit Patra. He has been found guilty of violating the model code of conduct in Madhya Pradesh Assembly election.

Another BJP leader SS Uppal was also found guilty and the district court has ordered for a conditional bail to him in the same case. CJM Vinod Patidar has passed the order against Sambit and Uppal.

Earlier MP Nagar police had registered a case against both the BJP leaders Sambit Patra and SS Uppal, under IPC section 188 and filed the challan in the court. Uppal has applied for his bail during the challan was filed in the court, while Sambit Patra was unavailable and therefore the court has ordered for a bailable warrant against him.

On November 1, 2018, social activist Bhuvneshwar Prasad Mishra has filed a complaint in the Magistrate Prakash Kumar court and alleged that Madhya Pradesh police is intentionally not registering his complaint against Patra and Uppal. Mishra had filed the complaint of model code of conduct violation against BJP spokesperson and leader Uppal.

The court has asked the state police for an explanation and warned them as well. The police filed the challan against both the leaders during the case was being heard in the court before the magistrate.
