Thiruvananthapuram: The police warned the public that bank fraud may increase during the lockdown period. When the moratorium for home loans and other loans was announced, there was an attempt to defraud the account holder ’s money.

The Reserve Bank of India warned that people should be alert and aware of bank fraud. Fraudsters pretend that they are calling from the bank’s headquarters to enable moratorium for loans. Since the account holders did not respond to this and contacted the relevant authorities, they did not lose money.

Kerala Police Cyberdome found that the call was directed from Jharkhand. The fraudster requested the customer to tell the debit card number and then sent an OTP to activate the moratorium. After noticing such attempts, the Reserve Bank of India, RBI and other banks notified customers of their fraudulent activities via text messages.

Police also said that customers must contact the number given in the passbook yo get the information regarding their bank transactions. Because calling on customer care service that is found on the internet may lead to fraud.

Many accounts similar to the original number are widely circulated on social media. Police said the forged accounts were similar to the Prime Minister ’s original relief fund were also found outside the state.

In regard to this, the police also warned the public to be vigilant when making donations to the relief fund of the prime minister and chief minister.
