RR swap deal for CSK: Speculation regarding Sanju Samson leaving Rajasthan Royals before the IPL 2026 mini-auction is only intensifying. Reports say the team’s main owner Manoj Badale has been speaking to all the other nine IPL teams himself to see if a trade can happen.

This comes after Samson, who is the captain of the Royals, reportedly asked them to either release him or trade him away because of growing issues between him and the management.
Badale has even been putting names on the table to try and get a deal done. Chennai Super Kings were one of the first teams approached, but things didn’t go well there. Rajasthan wanted one of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, or Shivam Dube in exchange for Samson. But CSK straight up refused to let go of any of these players. This means the talks between Jaipur and Chennai are stuck for now unless CSK comes back with another idea or decides to try for Samson in the auction.

Many Teams Want Samson
From what’s being said, Samson’s name may not even reach the auction table. Several teams are already showing interest to sign him directly if Rajasthan agrees to release him. Technically Samson could stil stay with Rajasthan because players don’t have much power when it comes to forcing a move.
According to Hindustan Times, the relationship between Samson and the franchise is said to be shaky, with disagreements over multiple matters. One big reason behind the tension is the decision to release Jos Buttler from the squad, which reportedly didn’t sit well with Samson.
Even with all the noise in the media, Samson hasn’t said much about the situation. In a chat with R Ashwin on his podcast recently, he only spoke positively about Rajasthan and even praised 14-year-old left-handed batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who opened the innings in place of him. But in an earlier talk with Star Sports, Samson admitted that letting go of certain players in the IPL is something that’s been hard for him to accept.

He shared, “Letting him go has been one of the most challenging decisions for me. During the England series, I told him over dinner that I was still not over it. If I could change one thing in the IPL, I would change the rule of releasing players every three years.”
