Following a row of controversy over ‘Hindu’ comment made by Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister defended his remarks and attacked Bharatiya Janata Party for their religious stands, asking “Why was Vivek Tiwari murdered even though he was a Hindi?”

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal gave the murder of Apple executive a communal angle in a Twitter post saying, “Even though Vivek Tiwari was a Hindu, he was killed. BJP does not protect the interests of Hindus.”

Later, justifying his remarks, Kejriwal said he wanted to show the mirror to people on the double faced BJP leaders and show the people of India that the party “does not care even about Hindus”.

Addressing media at a conference, Kejriwal said “BJP says it’s a party of Hindus, for Hindus. But BJP kills Hindus, rapes daughters of Hindus. Then how can BJP be the beneficiary of Hindus? At least now remove the veil from your eyes.”

Reacting to Kejriwal’s comments, widow of the deceased Kalpana said that Kejriwal must not politicise the incident by giving it a religious angle. “He does not know what I am going through. One should not play politics over my husband’s death. Please do not relate everything to faith and religion,” she said on Sunday.

The controversy revolves around the murder of Vivek Tiwari who was shot dead by UP police on the night of September 28. According to senior police officials, the incident took place in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar area around 1.30 am when Tiwari was driving his SUV with a female colleague alongside him.
