With the spread of COVID-19 across the globe, there has been a huge boost in the demand for hand sanitizers. Handwashing and the use of hand sanitizers have been vital for the prevention of the coronavirus.

Several local and national brands have started production and manufacture of hand sanitizers. The major hand sanitizer manufacturers have increased their production since January 2020 in anticipation of the increase in demand. In this episode, Kunal Prakash, a student of Delhi University in the Chemistry Department has initiated a new concept of immunity protection in hand sanitizers called ‘Pratyangira Disinfectant’. He developed an immunity booster hand sanitizer on the application of which improves the immunity to fight with the coronavirus.

Talking about the attributes of the sanitizer, Prakash told Newsd, “The contact time of the product is 30 seconds which kills 100% germs including coronavirus. The product is moderately inflammable and it does not guarantee any skin problem”.

“The hand sanitizer is supplemented with vitamins that go inside the body and help to develop a good responsive system against external stimuli like COVID-19. The limited composition of oxidizing agents like hydrogen peroxide makes it safe as compared to other alcohol-based sanitizing products available in the market”, he added.

The immunity booster hand sanitizer has been verified and accredited by NABL(National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) and has been tested over several viral strains. This sanitizer is the result of a joint venture with ‘Cleansweeps’ firm at Meerut including Kunal Prakash, Dr Shyam Lal, Dr Abhishek Saxena, Bijan Dandpat and Vikrant Kumar.

The team is planning to scale up the production of the sanitizer with the funds initiated by Harsh, Aman Chugh, and Vansh associated with Cleansweeps firm.

The hand sanitizer is likely to be affordable, however, the cost of the product has not been finalized yet.
