Doogee S100 Pro: The Doogee S100 Pro defies the current trend of smartphones that are nearly obsessed with becoming thinner and lighter. This is the largest, chubbiest, and heaviest smartphone I’ve tested, weighting in at close to a pound.

The S100 Pro is genuinely enormous, dwarfing my iPhone 14 Pro Max, and it even makes enormous handsets like the thermal camera-equipped Ulefone Power Armour 18T appear diminutive.

It is difficult to find novel things to say about smartphones. There are glass and plastic slabs present. They all resemble one another, function similarly, and perform essentially the same functions. But the dimensions and weight of the S100 Pro set it apart from the competition.

Doogee S100 Pro: A Powerful and Rugged Smartphone

Its predecessor, the S100, featured an enormous 10,800mAh battery that I deemed to be a behemoth. This is more than doubled by the S100 Pro, whose battery capacity is 22000mAh. This genuinely enormous battery, which is larger than many high-capacity power banks, provides the handset with a massive standby time of 2,350 hours. This handset supports reverse charging, so it can be used as a power source to charge other devices.

Since this battery is so large, wired charging with the included 66W charger is recommended (and in my testing, even this rapid charge feels slow), but 15W wireless fast charging is also supported (which is anything but fast!).

In terms of performance, Android 12 runs effortlessly thanks to the 2.2GHz octa-core Helio G99 processor and 12GB of RAM. This can be expanded by 8GB to a maximum of 20GB if you require additional RAM, which I did not discover a need for, but you may.

256GB of storage is also quite sufficient, but you can add up to 2TB more with a microSD card. Since 2TB microSD cards are not yet manufactured, you will have to compromise for 1TB. However, there are many counterfeit microSD cards on the market, so only purchase reputable brands. I recommend purchasing 1TB cards from Lexar, PNY, or SanDisk.

In terms of ruggedization, the S100 Pro is rated IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H, which means it can withstand impacts from heights of up to 6 feet, submersion in 4 feet of water for 30 minutes, and is impervious to dust and sand ingress.

Even the SIM tray, which features a really fine silicone seal, is protected against debris.

There are three cameras on the back of the device: a 20-megapixel Sony IMX350 night vision camera, a 108-megapixel Samsung HM2 primary camera, and a 16-megapixel wide-angle and macro camera.

These are about what I’d expect from a Doogee device: more than adequate for social media, but deficient in image quality when compared to the output of the most recent iPhones or high-end Android devices.

Doogee refers to the light below the camera array as a “camping light.” This LED COB (Chip On Board) array is capable of producing 130 lumens. This is an extremely brilliant light, and while the phone can maintain this output for 18 hours, there are settings for 1/2 and 1/4 for this intensely bright light.

The light has a full-power throw of approximately 20 yards and is excellent as a worklight or camping light (although I’m hesitant to bring such a bulky handset on hikes!).Be aware, however, that the flickering modes can be extremely disorienting, particularly for those who are sensitive to visual disturbances.

As with many other Doogee smartphones, this one also has a night vision function, so you can now see what’s around you in the dark. This is not a feature I use often because it requires you to gaze at an extremely bright screen in the dark, which destroys your night vision and blinds everyone else.
