Dry Days in Delhi

Dry Days In Delhi During G20 Summit: Due to the impending G20 Summit in Delhi, the government has issued a number of restrictions for September 8, 9, and 10 in the nation’s capital. The two-day summit will be attended by prominent world leaders, including US Vice President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sanuk, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and others. In order to accommodate world leaders and ministers, the Delhi Police have implemented stringent security measures. The authorities have ordered the closure of schools, colleges, markets, and institutions during the event.

People have been lining up at liquor stores to supply their bars ever since the government announced the closure of schools and colleges in the nation’s capital. According to an official notice, liquor retailers in the New Delhi Police District (which primarily includes Lutyen’s Delhi) will also be closed. In contrast, this is not the case in the remainder of the city. Still, there is a hurry to purchase one’s preferred brands.

Tushar Gautam, a social media executive based in Vasant Kunj, remarked to Hindustan Times, “What if I don’t get the brand that I want on these public holidays?” He added, “Just as it is an off for me, it is also an off for others. Therefore, it will likely become difficult to acquire alcohol during these days. So far, I have purchased four bottles of whiskey and two bottles of rum.”

Such a scene can also be witnessed at liquor stores in Noida sector 29’s Brahmaputra Market, Mayur Vihar Phase 1’s Big Way Wine & Beer Shop in Star City Mall and other locations in the city.

G20 Summit Theme And Logo for 2023

The theme for the G20 Summit in 2023 – “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth – One Family – One Future” – comes from the ancient Sanskrit text Maha Upanishad. The motif affirms the value of all life, including humans, animals, plants, and microorganisms, as well as their interconnectedness on Earth and in the cosmos. The theme also highlights LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), which promotes environmentally sustainable and responsible choices at both the individual and national level, leading to globally transformative actions that will result in a clearer, greener, and bluer future.
