It was very popular, but it only ran for seven months. After that, he went on tour and worked with singers like John Lennon and George Harrison. Clapton’s first solo record, which was just called Clapton, came out in 1970. But he didn’t seem to like being the only star, so he started a new band called Derek and the Dominos. He made the hit love song “Layla” with this band. But the band broke up because of disagreements.
