Vincent Van Gogh 2023: Vincent van Gogh was born on March 30, 1853. He started drawing when he was very young and did art for most of his life, but he didn’t become famous until after his death in 1890. His works are now some of the most famous in the world. They are in many famous museums, including one in his home country, the Netherlands, that is named after him. Millions of people still admire him and his work, both for his skill and for the beautiful way he sees the world. Today, we honour one of the best artists who ever lived.

BACKGROUND

Vincent van Gogh was born on March 30, 1853, in Zundert. He was a Dutch Aries. Van Gogh was the oldest of six children. His parents, Theodorus van Gogh and Anna Cornelia Carbentus, gave him names of relatives and ancestors of his father. When he was young, his mother pushed him to draw, which was his first step into the world of art.

At 16, his uncle helped him get a job as an art dealer with Goupil, where he studied and worked until 1873, when he moved to the London branch of the company. But when he moved to Paris, he started having problems at work and was fired. Then he became very religious and wanted to be a pastor, but he couldn’t make it happen.

Around 1880, Theo van Gogh, Van Gogh’s brother, told the young painter to take art more seriously and draw the people and places that interested him. So Van Gogh registered at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts. The next year, his second cousin Anton Mauve, who was a great artist, took him in as a student. He taught him how to paint with watercolour and oil, and he also gave him money to set up a studio.

Then he started painting with oils, and he liked what he made. Between 1883 and 1885, Van Gogh started painting seriously. He made about 200 oil paintings, as well as drawings and watercolours. His brother Theo tried to sell his dark-colored drawings, but he failed because people didn’t like them. But in August 1885, Van Gogh’s works were shown to the public for the first time. The next year, he went to Paris with his brother. There, he used brighter colours and met many well-known artists. After two years, he left the French city, where he had painted more than 200 pieces.

GOGH’S JOURNEY

In 1888, he went to Arles, where the landscape and light inspired him to paint three of his most famous works: “Van Gogh’s Chair,” “Bedroom in Arles,” and “Sunflowers.” Van Gogh moved into the Yellow House, which he planned to paint in his project “Decoration for the Yellow House” with the French artist Paul Gauguin, whom he had met in Paris. But their relationship got worse, and around this time Van Gogh cut off part of his left ear. He was taken to a hospital, where he was identified with acute mania and given medical care. During this time, he kept painting, though. Then, in 1889, he moved out of Arles and into the Saint-Paul Asylum in Saint-Rémy, where he painted the clinic’s rooms and its yard.

In 1890, Van Gogh showed his work at two shows. Well-known painter Claude Monet was one of the people who liked what he did. In May of the same year, he went to Auvers-sur-Oise, a town near Paris where he fell in love with the huge fields of wheat. Sadly, Van Gogh either shot himself or was shot in one of these wheat fields. He didn’t die right away after being shot. But because there wasn’t a doctor who could take out the bullet, he died 30 hours later with his brother Theo by his side.

Vincent van Gogh’s work has given us a new way to look at the world for more than a hundred years. His use of color, expressive brushwork, and unique way of showing the world make up his unique style and technique. These things, along with his unique way of showing the world, make him one of the best artists who ever lived. He still inspires millions of artists all over the world, and many of the best experts study him.
