PatnaWeeks after Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 64th preliminary results were announced, it has created a stir among the aspiring candidates of BPSC. After the release of BPSC answer key by the commission, an outrage among students was witnessed challenging wrong framing of answers pertaining to 11 questions. Deliberate entry to non-deserving candidates is the charge against the administrative commission.

Argument behind the fraud in Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) prelim results:

Allegations of fraud in BPSC preliminary exam result has many facets which cannot be ridiculed. The basis remains wrong answers of many questions which got published in answer key note by the commission. Many answers of questions as per BPSC are practically incorrect against which students have posed a challenge.

For example:

Q. When was Bihar’s Socialist Party formed?

Its answer is 1934 but as per answer key of BPSC it is 1931. In 63rd BPSC Preliminary exam a question on Bihar’s Socialist Party was asked which clearly mentioned 1934.

Q. Where did Kunwar Singh join the rebellion of 1857 against the British?

The answer was to be Arrah but according to BPSC answer key it was Patna which factually remains an incorrect answer.

Q. When did Bihar become a separate province in India?

Commission’s answer contradicted with Bihar government’s official website and Bihar State Board book.

There were several questions on which BPSC and students have locked horn. Approximately 900 students have been raising voice against publishing of incorrect answers. Moreover out of 150 questions, 3 were deleted. This move is also being contested as in question paper option E exists which said “None of the above/More than one of the above”. If such was the case, the question arises ‘What was the need of deleting three questions, if option E was available?’ Here’s the list of objectionable answers.

Another loophole which came into limelight was about candidates who received less marks than the cutoff and had qualified for mains exam. This indicates troubled waters for BPSC and it’s marking system.

Here’s an example:

A known academician of Patna who heads a civil service coaching centre on condition of anonymity also raised his eyebrows on irregularities in 64th prelim exam results. Talking to Newsd he said- Prior to 64th prelim exams there have been instances in near past where BPSC’s role is questionable. Many of my students have expressed their grievances on incorrect answers but till date neither the commission nor the government has given a clarification.

He also informed about filing a writ petition against result declaration by BPSC. The same reaction was of a candidate, also a victim of the alleged fraud. In conversation with Newsd, he angrily questioned BPSC’s credibility of setting questions whose answers are not known to its experts itself. After declaration of prelim results, the commission in a hurry has announced about the mains exam which also is suspicious, he added.

As Bihar’s education system is slammed for showing snail’s pace in delivering time bound results in academics, this hurry bury result declaration and decision making of back to back administrative service exam has created a cloud of suspicion.

BPSC experts giving out incorrect answers is unacceptable and commission’s refusal on it, is bizarre.

Way back in 2013, Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) chairman Ramsinghasan Singh, and the BPSC’s deputy secretary, member and six other employees were arrested today on charges of forgery, cheating and indulging in corrupt practices in selecting 184 candidates to the Bihar Administrative Service (BAS). Charges of forgery, cheating, corruption, question paper leak in successive administrative exams reflect a shameful past of Nitish Kumar’s government.

Newsd has written to BPSC about their response, we are yet to receive any response. As and when we get the response, we shall update the story accordingly.
