JSSC Clerk Exam Rule Changes: The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has cancelled the Intermediate Level (Computer Knowledge and Hindi Typing Qualification Holder Posts) Combined Competitive Examination-2023. The decision affects a recruitment drive for around 836 clerk posts in different Jharkhand government departments.
The exam was planned under two separate advertisements, Advertisement No. 15/2023 and Advertisement No. 16/2023. These were meant to fill regular as well as backlog vacancies. Now both advertisements have also been withdrawn.

The cancellation was announced by JSSC on August 31, 2026 after the state Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Official Language Department took back the requisitions for the posts. This means the old recruitment process won’t move ahead and candidates won’t get an exam date under the cancelled recruitment.
Why Has JSSC Cancelled The 836 Clerk Posts Recruitment?
The main reason behind the cancellation is a change in the recruitment rules. The department sent a letter to JSSC on July 29, 2026, informing the Commission that the requisitions connected with the two advertisements had been withdrawn.
According to reports, the requisitions were taken back after the concerned departments agreed to changes in the recruitment rules. Because the rules are being revised, the government now plans to start the recruitment process again under the new system.
This means the 2023 recruitment won’t simply continue from where it stopped. The departments will have to send fresh details of their vacant posts to JSSC. After that, the Commission will release a new recruitment notification.
The earlier recruitment had been planned for clerk and other intermediate-level posts. Existing recruitment details listed 836 regular Lower Division Clerk posts, along with other vacancies under the two advertisements.
What Happens to the Recruitment Now?
The concerned government departments will first send fresh requisitions to JSSC after the revised recruitment rules come into effect. JSSC will then prepare and release a new advertisement based on those vacancies. Candidates will have to follow the new notification and meet the eligibility rules given in it.

Officials have also indicated that the next recruitment could have more than 836 vacancies. But the final number isn’t fixed yet. It will only become clear when JSSC receives the fresh requisitions from the departments.
Big Setback For JSSC Aspirants
The cancellation is disappointing for thousands of candidates who had already been waiting for the examination to move forward. Many applicants had been expecting JSSC to announce the exam schedule and the next stages of selection.
Instead, the old recruitment has now ended. Candidates will have to wait for a fresh notification under the changed rules.
The new recruitment could still bring another chance for people preparing for these government jobs. Since the number of posts may increase, the fresh notification could potentially offer more vacancies than the earlier 836 posts. However, candidates will need to check the new JSSC notice carefully because eligibility conditions and other recruitment details may change with the revised rules.
