Encrypted messaging app Signal says there has been a sharp jump in the number of new users since Elon Musk has urged people to use their messenger service. The company has tweeted that a lot of new users are trying to join the signal, so the verification codes are being delayed.

WhatsApp recently has made changes to advance and process its users’ information with parent company Facebook. The new WhatsApp policy will come into effect from February 8. This change has caused a disruption among the masses as many people are seeing this as a breach of privacy.
How Signal is different from WhatsApp
The Signal is another alternative to private messenger WhatsApp. This app has been developed by Signal Foundation.
‘WhatsApp’ co-founder Brian Acton, who left the company after being acquired by Facebook has built the Signal Foundation with The Moxi Marlinspike.
The Signal messaging app is almost the same as WhatsApp used to be at the beginning, but it provides better privacy to its users.
In comparison, WhatsApp collects these data from your device: device ID, user ID, advertising data, purchase history, course location, phone number, email address, contacts, product interaction, crash data, performance data, diagnostic data, payment info, customer support, etc.
‘Signal’ on the other hand does not generate any such data. Signal only requires your mobile number to register, but this app doesn’t connect your phone number to your identity.
Just Need Mobile verification in Signal
The ‘Signal’ private messenger app is available for both Android and iOS. You can also make voice and video calls using Signal. It’s completely free. It also has almost all the features like WhatsApp with much-improved security and privacy settings.
Once you install the Signal app on your phone, you need to enter a mobile number to create an account like a WhatsApp app. You can also add your name and profile picture to it.
Signals are used by security experts, privacy researchers, academics, and journalists from all over the world.
A lot of people have been asking how to move their group chats from other apps to Signal, and Signal group links are a great way to get started. Drop a group link into your former chat app of choice like you’re dropping the mic on the way out. pic.twitter.com/q49DeZufBG
