Flipkart CFO Sanjay Baweja resigns

Flipkart Chief Financial Officer Sanjay Baweja has put in his papers after a two-year stint, marking the latest high level exit at the Bengaluru based e-commerce company.

“Flipkart CFO Sanjay Baweja has quit. The company has started searching for his replacement. Baweja will continue to work with company till December 31, 2016,”an Industry source told to media.

Baweja, Former CFO at Tata Communications, was spearheading financial initiatives of the company including fund-raising.

According to internal sources, Kalyan Krishnamurthy, MD at Tiger management (largest share holder in Flipkart) may act as the interim CFO.

Baweja’s move has come at a time when the company is in the midst of its busiest sales season, which usually runs from September to December. Flipkart is also trying to raise another round of funds and retail giant Walmart is said to be among those who are in talks for an investment.

In recent times, Flipkart has seen a number of top level exists and restructuring. Flipkart’s legal head Rajinder Sharma quit in July. Myntra’s founder and Flipkart’s commerce platform head Mukesh Bansal left earlier this year, together with chief business officer Ankit Nagori. Former Google executive Punit Soni, who had joined as chief product officer, did not even complete one year in the firm.

The company also fired 700 to 1000 employees as part of a cost cutting drive.
