Many people cancel their orders or send back products, and then the biggest question is always when will the money come back?

RBI makes the refund rule clear
In many cases, customers start worrying when they don’t see the refund in their account even after 48 hours of cancellation. The tension becomes bigger when the bank takes too long.
But now there is no need to panic because the Reserve Bank of India has already made the rules clear. The RBI has said if banks or card companies fail to return the money on time, then they will have to pay a fine of 100 rupees every day to the customer.
The rules also explain how many days it should normally take. For debit card payments, the money should come back within 7 days.
For credit card payments, it should not take more than 3 days. If this limit is crossed, then the penalty rule will apply.
Why this rule is Important?
Big sales like Flipkart’s Big Billion Day create a flood of transactions. Lakhs of orders go through at the same time, and naturally, cancellations and returns also go up. In this chaos, refund delays become very common. That is why this RBI rule is important. It gives customers protection and makes sure they do not have to suffer silently.

Flipkart Sales 2025: What to do if the refund is late?
If your refund is delayed:
1. Complain to the bank or card company first.
2. If the solution is not found within 30 days, you can file a case with the RBI Ombudsman.
3. The customer has the full right to demand penalty in writing.
Know your rights during Big Billion Day
Everyone waits for the Flipkart sale because the discounts are huge. But with those discounts also comes the headache of returns and refunds. If you know the rules, you will not feel helpless when the refund is late. The RBI has made sure the customer does not lose money or time.
As Junior Civil Aviation Minister Murlidhar Mohol explained in parliament earlier, “39 percent of critical small drone components are still sourced from manufacturers based in China.” In the same way, knowing where your refund stands is also about awareness.
