Months after Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani was killed by the Indian army, the terrorist is still being lauded by the Kashmiri separatists through folk songs and poems. They treat him nothing less than a rebel commander.

Recently, a video clip was circulated on instant messaging apps and on social media wherein five persons can be seen singing a folk song and presenting the life of Wani as a martyr. His ‘sacrifices’ for Kashmir are being remembered in these songs and he is being described as a ‘Shaheed’.

The song, which is in Urdu language been seen by thousands of Facebook users.

Few lines of the song has been translated by the Mail Today that says – “Your Burhan, My Burhan, Shahsavar is our Burhan. In the battlefield, there is only one warrior, our Burhan!”

Well, there are several such videos of songs sung in the praise of the killed terrorist.

Surprisingly, these songs are also sung in marriages by sufi singers in the state, sources told Mail Today.

“Who said Burhan Wani is dead? He is alive in our memories and his footprints can be felt everywhere in Kashmir,” said Waqas (name changed), a resident of Valley as per a report in India Today.

“To feel his presence we are finding ways to use Wani’s name in regular things,” said another Kashmiri separatist.

Many pages and communities have been created on Facebook, Instagram and other social networking sites after Wani’s encounter. Pictures such as a man bending down on the Wani’s or a child kissing his poster are being posted on these pages. The security agencies are keeping a tight check on these activities.
