What can be more overwhelming than cruising in the warm waters of the Caribbean that too on the cost of your company? While most of the people will shiver through another cold January, over 800 employees of Iowa’s Bertch Cabinets in Waterloo will get a free outing to the Caribbean next month.
Exciting, isn’t it? The company’s president offered the cruise as an incentive a year ago but the dream of many employees come true when it finally announced the trip on its Facebook page.
January in Iowa can be chilly and tedious. But staff at a cabinet company will get a sunny reprieve from the winter melancholy, thanks to their boss.
“We leave January 8,” said company president Gary Bertch to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier. “We’ve got four charter aircraft that will be flying directly to Miami Sunday and staying at a nice five-star hotel. Then on Monday, we’ll bus over from the hotel to the port and load up on the ship.”
Bertch said to his workforce that the trip was a reward for them as they aided the company to meet its goals for the year. “We just tried to get all of our people pumped up a little more to achieve the various goals, both customer-oriented goals and financial goals.”
Well, this is a lot better reward than getting a gift card or a pat on the back. Isn’t it?
