Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: Ganesh Chaturthi, the festival commemorating the birth of Lord Ganesha, is one of the most revered and extensively celebrated festivals in India, particularly in Maharashtra. This year, the ten-day Hindu festival will be celebrated between September 19 and September 28. Ganesh is revered as the deity of intelligence, knowledge, prosperity, and joy.

Ganesh Chaturthi will be observed on September 19 this year. In some locations, banks will be closed for three consecutive days on September 18, 19, and 20. On account of Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata/Vinayaka Chathurthi, banks will be closed on September 18 in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad – Telangana, per the RBI holiday calendar.

In Bhubaneswar and Panaji, banks will be closed on 20 September in observance of Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd day)/Nuakhai.

According to Drik Panchang, the Ganesh Chaturthi tithi begins at 12:39 p.m. on September 18 and ends at 1:43 p.m. on September 19. Sthapna is a Ganesha statue with significant significance. Bappa brings prosperity and joy to households. This year, the optimal time for Ganesh Sthapna will occur on September 19, between 11:07 a.m. and 1:34 p.m. Then, following Sthapna, he will be worshiped for 10 consecutive days with complete rituals and devotion. Then, on the final day, he will be submerged in water on September 28, 2023, the day of Anant Chaturdashi.

According to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday schedule, September has twelve official holidays (varying from state to state).

  • In addition to Sundays and alternate Saturday holidays, there were sixteen bank holidays.
  • The 22nd of September is Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day. In Kerala, banks will remain closed.
  • September 23 is Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s Birthday (Banks will remain closed in Jammu and Kashmir.)
  • September 25 is Srimanta Sankardeva’s Janmotsav (Banks will remain closed in Assam)
  • The 27th of September is Milad-i-Sherif (the Birthday of Prophet Muhammed) (Jammu and Kerala’s banks will remain closed)
  • (Bara Vafat) Banks will be closed in Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand on September 28 for Eid-E-Milad/Eid-e-Meeladunnabi.
  • The 29th of September is Indrajatra/Friday after Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi. Sikkim, Jammu, and Srinagar will maintain their bank closures.

The bank branches will be closed on these days, but mobile and internet banking will continue to operate normally. Customers can conduct transactions via online channels.
