Ever since senior journalist, Gauri Lankesh, was shot dead outside her home on Tuesday evening, there have been protests and candle light vigils. Several people protested at Rajarajeshwari Nagar through the night demanding justice for the journalist. A candlelight vigil was also held in Karnataka’s Gulbarga for Lankesh on Tuesday night.
Protests will be carried out across various parts of the country on Wednesday. Protests have been planned in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, a probe is underway into the murder of the senior journalist. The police are examining the CCTV footage from two cameras to find out the culprits.
The 55-year-old journalist was shot dead outside her house on Tuesday evening.
Karnataka chief minister, Siddaramaiah, called the brutal murder the “assassination of democracy”.

Information and Broadcasting minister, Smriti Irani, also offered her condolence.

Congress MP, Shashi Tharoor, also took to Twitter to express condolence over her death.
