Girl dies during game of Russian roulette in Madhya Pradesh

A girl accidentally killed herself during a game of Russian roulette on a video call with a friend on WhatsApp. The incident took place in Narayan Vihar colony in Madhya Pradesh‘s Gwalior on September 7. The deceased was identified as 21-year-old Karishma Yadav. She was playing the game of Russian roulette with a revolver of her father who had retired from the post of subedar four months ago.

On September 7, Karishma made a video call on WhatsApp to her Delhi-based friend when her parents had gone to Chitrakoot. Her elder brother was also in the market. During the live video chat, she started showing her father’s revolver. She placed a single bullet in the revolver, spun the cylinder, placed muzzle against her head, and pulled the trigger, saying “Let’s try my luck”.

When her brother returned home, he found Karishma lying in a pool of blood. He took her to a hospital where she died 72 hours later. An MRI of her showed the bullet in her skull. Cops came to know that she was talking to a friend on WhatsApp when the incident took place. The Delhi-based friend told the police that the call got disconnected abruptly and he didn’t know what happened.

We spoke to her friend who said that they were talking when she took the gun and started playing with the gun. “Call got disconnected suddenly, and the Delhi girl didn’t realise what would have happened in Gwalior,” police officer Sudesh Tiwari, who is investigating the case, told Times of India. Cops are also probing if there was any recklessness towards handling his weapon.
