Miss Namita Sharma is a resident of the pristine town of Dehradun, which naturally explains her passion for the environment and activities oriented towards saving Mother Nature at a time where fast fashion tends to overlook environmental concerns at large. Her vision perfectly takes form in her collections, which are reflective of her antiquity and creativity. The inception of Godwit Khadi was marked by a dire need to restore fashion whilst making use of more natural techniques that encourage more employment in rural India like Khadi in her designs. While she is a technical graduate by qualification, her yen for fashion compelled her to take the leap into design and today she successfully runs her fashion brand- Godwit Khadi.
Etymologically, Godwit stands for the bird, which flies high above the sky, which is symbolic of the A grade quality of fabric utilized in their various designs. Khadi forms the pedestal on which the brand is founded and is the finest fabric known today. Their designs are exclusively made of Khadi to create quirky, individualistic styles. They aim to revive Indian craftsmanship by using refined fabrics such as, Khadi Cotton, Pure Reeled Silk, Pure Raw Silk and Malmal/Muslin, along with an assorted variety of handpicked silks from different parts of India, like – Mulberry, Garad, Mysore Silk, Tussar, Katiya, Matka and “Peace Silks” like Eri and Munga, which are both, highly beneficial for the skin and eco-friendly too.
