Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy witnessed a great start on its opening day that was also the Valentine’s Day. The film collected about 19.40 crore on its opening day that was also the second highest grosser film of Ranveer after Simbaa.
Now, according to a media report, the Zoya Akhtar directorial has collected around Rs 13 crore as per the early estimate. However, it is expected that the film’s performance will improve over the weekend.
Gully Boy has been looting a lot of appreciations from the critics and from the audience. Apart from Ranveer and Alia’s performance in the film, the direction by ace director Zoya Akhtar is also being appreciated.
The film is based on a slum rapper from Mumbai who wants to rise above his socio-economic status to become a star. The film is inspired from two street rappers Divine and Naezy.
Special screening of the film was also held on Wednesday night by Ranveer and Alia in Mumbai. They have also received many appreciations from their families.
The film which released on 3350 screens in India and a total of 4101 screens worldwide also stars Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raaz and Amruta Subhash in crucial roles.
The film is also expected to pick up pace over the weekend.
